Across versions is a large set of "common" non-GWT generated resources.  For example, my LiteSoft GWT application support core has almost <b>1400</b> files (including the svn files) which consume just under 1.5MB (actual, but over <b>6MB</b> disk).
<p>
So, the obvious solution is to NOT put the "common" under the versioned directories.  But that would mean that the "common" would not participate in the versioned URL approach.  Not Acceptable!
<p>
Optimally, the "common" is <b>NOT</b> under the versioned directories Server-Side (and source control), but <b>IS</b> under the versioned directories Client-Side.
