Summary of our Backup Strategy

  • RAID1 (mirrored) hard drives for each server
  • Hard drives are encrypted
  • Nightly backups to an off-site server

Details of our Backup Strategy

Every Git, Mercurial and Subversion repository that is hosted with us sits on a RAID1 (mirrored) configured server. These hard drives are encrypted as well. This protects from a single hard drive failure.

On top of the mirrored hard drives, we decided that it was just not enough. Every night, we encrypt your changesets and send it to an off-site server. We will even keep all deleted repositories for 90 days in case you wanted to retrieve something that has been lost.

Backup Strategy

Cost Effective

We do not impose silly limits on number of projects or users you can have on your account. You only pay for the storage space you use, and all paid plans include backup features described here!

Our plans are cheap! They start at $5/month only, and all annual payments get a 20% discount.

You don't even need a credit card to get started.

Amazon S3 Backups

If you'd like to have your own copy of your repository for safe keeping, you can configure your repositories and Trac projects to be backed up to Amazon S3. The backups are stored under buckets owned by your own AWS account, and Amazon will charge you separately for using their S3 service.
